Every morning, the first thing that I do is turn my Macbook on. The next thing that I do is go to my windowsill to see how Basil-kun is doing while my Macbook is booting up. Well, this morning, I had two surprises waiting for me.
First surprise - a new seedling sprouted. That took me by total surprise. I thought the other four seeds were hopeless - after all, it had been nearly three weeks since I planted them. Although it is quite a "late"ling, it was a very pleasant surprise!

Next to its very, very tall siblings :P
Second surprise - I believe that another set of true leaves is on its way!

Yup, I believe that's it. This seedling is the one that sprouted first, thus the tallest and the fastest growing. I think I should give it a name. Maybe like, Ba-ichiro? Since it's a "firstborn."
...........yeah, maybe I shouldn't be the one to name my kids in the future.

It has already been over two weeks since I planted Basil-kun.
Look how big they've grown!!

The leaves are starting to like basil leaves now! :P
I wonder when the next set of leaves will come out?

They're pretty tall now!
I think it's about time that I get fertilizers for these guys.

Basil-kun is doing well.

This seedling, which was the first to appear, is the tallest and fastest growing out of the five. Its true leaves are also the biggest.

The other seedlings are on their way with getting their true leaves out! So cute.

There haven't been dramatic changes with Basil-kun over the past few days. It's just growing a little bit taller by day. But today, I've noticed that the first pair of "true leaves" have started to peak through! They are SO tiny, but they are on their way.
According to the instructions, once the basil has 2-3 sets of true leaves, it is ready to be transplanted to another pot. I better get going on getting a new pot and soil and some fertilizers! Once Basil-kun is about 2-3 inches in height, it's going to need its nutrients!

Cute, little true leaves :)

Day 6.
I don't think the other four seeds are going to sprout. But at least I have five healthy basil sprouts going on here! They are growing taller by day, and even now, they are even taller than in this picture, which was taken early afternoon.

As I mentioned before, basil loves the sun. Look at how Basil-kun is reaching out towards the sunlight! Personally, that's really cute. When I put them under artificial light on the opposite side for the evening, they started moving towards that too :)
So far, Basil-kun only has baby leaves. However, soon enough, it's going to start heaving "true" leaves, which will grow out from between the baby leaves. According to the instructions, once the seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves, they should be transplanted to their final destinations. I guess I'll have to start looking for a new pot and some soil as well as fertilizers, because I want to keep all five seedlings!
